Eyre Peninsula grower Tyson Tree upgraded from a three-point linkage spreader to an AgriSpread AS2150 SCS to increase capacity and improve spreading efficiency across his 2,400-hectare operation at Talia, South Australia.
Growing canola, wheat, barley and faba beans across predominantly shallow, rocky country and grey loamy calcareous soils, Tyson needed a machine that could handle the demands of his operation while providing greater accuracy and flexibility.

The AS2150 SCS has given Tyson the ability to combine increased capacity with Variable Rate Control and Section Control, helping him apply fertiliser more accurately across varying paddock conditions.
Using yield mapping to guide variable rate application, Tyson achieved a 12.5 per cent saving on urea through Variable Rate Control, with a further 2.5pc saving from Section Control.
That delivered an overall urea saving of 15pc in the first season.
With a capacity of up to 15m³ and the ability to carry more than 11 tonnes of urea, the AS2150 SCS has significantly increased Tyson’s spreading capacity compared with his previous three-point linkage spreader.
The machine can spread at 41.5m, matching the width of his sprayer and helping reduce unnecessary wheel tracks across the paddock.
Tyson has also found the load cells highly accurate and the calibration process straightforward, with the ability to calibrate on the go.

For Tyson, the combination of greater capacity, improved accuracy and reduced fertiliser use has delivered a clear return on investment.
With urea prices around $1,400 per tonne, the savings achieved through Variable Rate Control and Section Control can quickly add up, helping to pay off a significant portion of the machine in its first year.
The AS2150 SCS has also given Tyson greater capacity and the ability to spread further, helping him cover more ground efficiently.
